Microporous and Mesoporous Materials is an international journal covering novel and significant aspects of porous solids classified as either microporous (pore size up to 2 nm) or mesoporous (pore size 2 to 50 nm). Typical examples are zeolites and zeolite-like materials, pillared materials, clathrasils and clathrates, carbon molecular sieves , ordered mesoporous materials, organic/inorganic porous hybrid materials or porous metal oxides. Both natural and synthetic materials are within the scope of the journal.
New Carbon Materials publishes research devoted to the physics, chemistry and technology of those organic substances that are precursors for producing aromatically or tetrahedrally bonded carbonaceous solids, and of the materials that may be produced from those organic precursors. These materials range from diamond and graphite through chars, semicokes, mesophase substances, carbons, carbon fibers, carbynes, fullerenes and carbon nanotubes, etc.
The purpose of Optical Materials is to provide a means of communication and technology transfer between researchers who are interested in materials for potential device applications. The journal publishes original papers and review articles on the design, synthesis, characterisation and applications of optical materials.
Physica C (Superconductivity and its Applications) serves as a rapid channel for peer reviewed publications on superconductivity, its applications and related subjects, covering new developments in superconductivity; such as new materials, unconventional superconductors and Josephson effects. The journal contains papers on the theoretical issues of superconductivity, reports on measurements of a wide variety of physical properties of both type I and type II superconducting materials including the vortex phenomena in superconductors.
Powder Technology is an International Journal on the Science and Technology of Wet and Dry Particulate Systems. Powder Technology publishes papers on all aspects of the formation of particles and their characterisation and on the study of systems containing particulate solids.
This journal is the only review journal which provides a repository of articles and references on the growth and characterization of crystals and their applications.
Progress in Solid State Chemistry presents a chemical view of the solid state by providing up-to-date critical reviews written by acknowledged authorities in the field. It also publishes surveys of research progress and specialized articles devoted to summarizing particular recent developments. The aim is to address the need brought about by the literature on the chemistry of the solid state being widely dispersed, making it difficult to obtain a broad and unified assessment of the present state of knowledge. Special emphasis is given to relating physical properties and structural chemistry.

The scope of Rare Metal Materials and Engineering is development, production and testing of titanium, refractory metals, noble metals, rare metals, rare earth metals and superconducting materials. Meanwhile, design and fabrication technology of ceramic materials, magnetic materials, nanophase materials, biological materials and advanced materials are also included moderately.
Rare Metals is devoted to original research articles encompassing the metallurgy, processing, and determination of rare metals. It also publishes contributions on the synthesis, processing, characterization, properties, and theoretical description of advanced materials, such as superconductors, semiconductors, composites, and ceramics.
Science and Technology of Advanced Materials offers an international forum presenting refereed original contributions at the forefront of materials science research, and occasionally includes reviews of articles in the rapidly growing fields of materials research, such as nano-, bio- and ecomaterials. We also publishes special issues featuring on-going research projects and other materials research activity.
Scripta Materialia is a LETTERS journal of Acta Materialia, providing a forum for the rapid publication of short communications on the relationship between the structure and the properties of inorganic materials. The emphasis is on originality rather than incremental research. Short reports on the development of materials with novel or substantially improved properties are also welcomed. Emphasis is on either the functional or mechanical behavior of metals, ceramics and semiconductors at all length scales.
Providing a common forum for all soft matter scientists, Soft Materials covers theory, simulation, and experimental research in this rapidly expanding and interdisciplinary field. As soft materials are often at the heart of modern technologies, soft matter science has implications and applications in many areas ranging from biology to engineering. Unlike many journals which focus primarily on individual classes of materials or particular applications, Soft Materials draw on all physical, chemical, materials science, and biological aspects of soft matter. Featured topics include polymers, biomacromolecules, colloids, membranes, Langmuir-Blodgett films, liquid crystals, granular matter, soft interfaces, complex fluids, surfactants, gels, nanomaterials, self-organization, supramolecular science, molecular recognition, soft glasses, amphiphiles, and foams.
Soft Matter has a global circulation and interdisciplinary audience with a particular focus on the interface between physics, materials science, biology, chemical engineering and chemistry.
This interdisciplinary journal is devoted to the physics, chemistry and materials science of diffusion, mass transport, and reactivity of solids. The major part of each issue is devoted to articles on: physics and chemistry of defects in solids; reactions in and on solids, e.g. intercalation, corrosion, oxidation, sintering; ion transport measurements, mechanisms and theory. Related technological applications are also included, provided their characteristics are interpreted in terms of the basic solid state properties.
The Mechanics and Physics of Fracture part encourages publication of original research on Material damage leading to crack growth and/or fatigue. Materials treated include metal alloys, polymers, composites, rocks, ceramics, etc. The material damage process is complex because it involves the combined effect of loading, size and geometry, temperature and environment. Formulation may involve the dissipation of energy in various forms and the identification of microscopic entities and their interactions with macroscopic variables. The advent of the modern computer, however, has offered added capability for analysing the stresses and/or strain and failure modes. The construction and verification of quantitative theories can be more readily carried out. Encouraged in particular are contributions related to predictions of material damage behaviour based on microscopic and/or macroscopic models.
